Ebonyi State Commissioner for Education, Professor Paul Nwobashi has reiterated government’s readiness to clamp down on substandard primary and secondary schools.
Nwobashi made the disclosure while addressing our correspondent in his office in Abakaliki.
Professor Nwobashi, who said all schools in the state would open on Monday, January 13, added that any school that goes contrary to the stipulated date would be sanctioned.
He explained that the 22 classrooms model school block with aesthetic design ongoing in different zones would be completed soon, adding that re-introduction of reading in schools would curb poor reading culture.
While acknowledging the ministry’s readiness to implement history and reading in schools, Nwobashi hinted that the new policy would go far in shaping the educational system in the country.
The commissioner, while explaining government’s readiness to improve manpower in the educational system said successful applicants who sat for the teachers recruitment test would soon be made public and enjoined parents to rise up to their responsibilities in ensuring that their children are up and doing.
