Delta Govt Offers Grants To Small Businesses

In line with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s ‘MORE’ agenda, Delta State government has reaffirmed its commitment to develop and grow micro and small businesses. 

 The state government, in partnership with the World Bank, through NG-CARES, domesticated as D-CARES programme, is offering additional grants and Information Technology Enhancement to eligible firms.

Executive Secretary of DEMSMENDA, Dr Godwin Adolor announced the state government’s initiative of building on previous efforts to revitalise economic growth, following the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Dr Adolor encouraged micro and small business owners to take advantage of the intervention.

He urged them to visit DEMSMENDA at the Olorogun Felix Ibru Secretariat Annex, Asaba, for more information. 

In the statement, he listed the eligibility criteria to include:

– Registered business name with CAC or the State Ministry of Trade and Investment

. Business must be domiciled in Delta State, business must have existed for at least two years before June 16, 2020

. Business owner’s ages must be between 18 and 60 years.

. Head of businesses with two or more firms can only benefit once.

– Verified account name, BVN, and personal phone number. 

The statement said only businesses that meet the eligibility criteria will be qualified to access the D-Cares intervention. The grants are specifically for vulnerable and viable micro and small businesses.
