Delta State Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Peter Uviejitobor has charged journalists to be accurate and transparent in reporting government activities in line with the ‘MORE Agenda’ of the state government to promote development across the state.

Uviejitobor gave the charge Wednesday while playing host to the management team of Cruise FM led by the General Manager, Mr Lawrence Okpevwo, in his office in Asaba.

He said the role of the media in ensuring accountability had never been overemphasised, promising to partner the medium to propagate and promote the activities of  government.

The commissioner noted that the ministry plays a major role in advocacy and would work in synergy with  relevant agencies and stakeholders in the oil and gas sector to ensure peace and security in the state.

“The public deserves accurate, transparent and comprehensive information about government’s operations, particularly the oil and gas sector which is the main stream of the country’s economy,” he said.

Speaking earlier, Mr Okpevwo  said the station is ready to partner  the ministry to report the activities of the oil and gas sector across the state.

He noted that the Ministry of Oil and Gas plays a prominent role in Nigeria’s economy, as Delta State is blessed with enormous oil and gas deposit.
