Delta Cares Boosts Healthcare In Ndokwa East

From Owen Akenzua, Asaba

Community Driven Development Social Implementation Unit, CDDSIU, under Delta CARES Programme has rehabilitated the Primary Health Centre in Onyah community, Ndokwa East Local Government Area, to tackle healthcare challenges in rural communities.

Responding to the community’s plea for improved healthcare facilities, the rehabilitation project was initiated by leaders after the former facility became dilapidated, unkept and unfit for use.

During a needs assessment exercise, community members expressed interest for a renovated health centre and staff quarters to ensure timely medical attention and reduce mortality rate.

Chairman of the Community Project Management Committee, Mr Morgan Uzor expressed the community’s enthusiasm with the completion of the facility, stating that it has brought hope to the people and eliminated the need to travel far distance for healthcare.

He said the renovated facility would benefit not only Onyah, but neighbouring communities.

Uzor thanked Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for this kind gesture and pledged on behalf of the community to protect and utilise the facility for the well-being of all.
