Embattled lawyer and activist, Dr Dele Farotimi has regained his freedom after meeting his bail conditions.
The lawyer’s freedom was disclosed by fellow activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, who said Farotimi was returning to his home in Lagos.
Posting on X, Sowore said the embattled activist was no longer at the prison yard in Ekiti State.
Sowore wrote: “I am pleased to report that Farotimi is no longer being held at the prison yard in Ekiti State and is now returning home to Lagos. The struggle continues!”
A Chief Magistrate Court in Ado Ekiti had a few days ago, granted him N30 million bail.
It would be recalled that the lawyer was arrested earlier this month for allegedly defaming a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, and founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, ABUAD, Chief Afe Babalola.
Farotimi, who was remanded in a correctional centre in Ado Ekiti, arrived the Magistrate Court premises around 9:45am on Friday amid heavy security presence.
