COVID-19: Zamfara Bans All Gatherings Of Over 20 People

Zamfara state police command has banned all forms of gathering that exceeds twenty people by whatever Name is called. The state commissioner of police CP Usman Nagoggo has revealed Monday.

Nagoggo said that the ban is imperative while drastic measures has to be applied because of the glaring menace of Covid-19.

He therefore directed “area commanders and DPO’s are directed to work hand in hand with local government chairmen and other security agencies of their respective areas to ensure that any gathering of more than twenty people is banned until further notice. Sister security agencies in the state are directed to ensure strict compliance of the directives.” Nagoggo said.

In view of this the commissioner directed decongestion of all police lock ups and immediate released of suspects with minor cases except hardened criminals and those with serious offences across the state.

The commissioner of police urged the people of the state to settle their disputes at home amicably without taking complaints to the police.

When asked if the ban includes mosques, churches, burial and wedding processions and ceremonies, Nagoggo replied that” Zamfara people are peace loving, they are law abiding and I’m sure they’ll comply.
