Shari’a Court sitting in Magajin Gari, Kaduna State, has dissolved a 45-year-old marriage between Ilani Alhaji and Halima Ilani for alleged infidelity.
The judge, Malam Anas Khalifa, on Monday confirmed the one pronouncement of divorce made by the defendant after efforts to settle out-of-court proved abortive.
The complainant had earlier prayed the court to dissolve her union with Alhaji, saying he accused her of cheating in the presence of their children.
She said the complainant had not been exercising his duty as a husband for 20 years, a situation she had to endure for the sake of their children.
“I am now old and I don’t have energy for this kind of things; what pains me the most is him suspecting me of cheating.
“I am no longer interested in this marriage”, she said. NAN
