Controversy as rise of pepper prices has been connected to Adekunle Gold’s song “Rodo”

Adekunle Gold, a Nigerian singer, has found himself at the center of an unexpected controversy after his song “Rodo” apparently prompted a spike in pepper prices. A Twitter user called out the musician, alleging that the price of pepper has risen dramatically since the song’s release.

The user, who had previously complimented Adekunle Gold for “elevating pepper to an unprecedented level,” stated that he now pays N1,000 for only eight pieces of pepper in his neighborhood. This large price increase has caused considerable controversy, with many questioning the relationship between the music and market prices.

The tweet, which has since gone viral, reads: “@adekunleGOLD Thanks for taking #Rodo to the biggest stage ever. They now sell 8 pieces for 1k in my area.”

While some have dismissed the claim as a joke, others have expressed frustration at the rising cost of everyday items.
