As the curtain is set to fall on the 2025 edition of the African Women’s Volleyball Inter-Club Championship in Nigeria’s capital city, Abuja, it’s now a “Battle of the Pharaohs” as two Egyptian teams are set to face off in today’s final, Sunday, April 13.
On Saturday, defending champions Zamalek booked their place in the final after a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) in a thrilling semifinal encounter.
The match, held at the Indoor Hall, Package B of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, ended with set scores of 25-23, 28-26, 19-25, 24-26, 15-12.
The semifinal lived up to expectations, delivering top-tier volleyball action. The Kenyan team enjoyed massive support from the crowd, who passionately cheered every move, spike, and rally from the KPC ladies.
It was a contest defined by experience, grit, intelligence, and raw power—highlighting the steady growth and development of volleyball across the continent.
Zamalek will now play in their third consecutive final, having secured the championship title in both the 2023 and 2024 editions.
Meanwhile, Al Ahly, also from Egypt, booked their place in the final by defeating North African side CFC of Tunisia in straight sets: 25-15, 25-23, 25-21—setting the stage for an all-Egyptian showdown.
Before the final clash, Kenya Pipeline Company will face CFC of Tunisia in the third-place match.
The tournament, which featured 16 teams, concludes on April 13, 2025, with the top two teams earning automatic qualification for the World Championship.
