CAN President Urges Christians To Live In Peace With Others, Commissions Benue Secretariat

President Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Most Reverend Daniel Okoh has challenged Christians in the country to be promoters of peace among themselves as well as to live in harmony with those practicing other faiths for meaningful deveopment which can only thrive in a peaceful atmosphere.

Most Reverend Okoh gave the charge, Sunday, in Makurdi, while inaugurating and dedicating an autra modern  CAN secretariat with state of the art equipment in Benue State, initiated by the  Akpenleva led leadership of CAN Benue State chapter constructed by the state government.

The CAN president commended Governor Samuel Ortom for providing resources for the building of a befitting house for God, assuring him that God will grant all his heart desires.

He also lauded the Dr Akpenleva led EXCO for judiciously applying the funds that were provided to ensure completion of the edifice and called on Benue Christian not to allow anything divide them but continue to be their brothers keeper.

In a welcome remarks state Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Benue State chapter Reverend Dr Augustine Akpenleva, expressed appreciation to governor Samuel Ortom for providing necessary logistics for the timely completion of the project and assured government that the church in Benue would continue to pray and stand with his administration for it to impact positively on citizens.

He appealed to the state government to support CAN to build a 30 room apartment for accommodation as well as called on corporate organizations to partner the Association by completing the project on build,operate and transfer basis to boost revenue generation.

The Benue CAN boss equally appealed to the governor to provide a transformer to improve power supply both at the secretariat and surrounding environs.

Dr Leva who lamented the level of insecurity in the country particularly in Benue State resulting to killing of innocent people on daily basis with the recent case at Abagena IDP camp which over 10 people including six from one single family being killed, called on the federal government to do the needful to tackle the fragile security in the country.

He also called on Benue electorates to vote competent candidates who will provide good governance in the forthcoming general elections.
