Bureau For LG &CA Commences Payment Of Furniture Allowances To Outgoing Officials In Benue – Achabo

Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, BLG&CA, in Benue State has revealed that it has commenced payment for furniture allowances to the outgoing Local Government Executives and councilors, following the expiry of their two year tenure in office.

Speaking during the monthly joint account allocation meeting with Local Government Chairmen, treasurers and union leaders held at the headquarters of the bureau in Makurdi, special adviser to the Benue Governor on Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barr Kenneth Achabo, announced that already two Local Government Areas have been paid.

“As we are gradually winding off, like I told you before, because of the understanding we had, as you can see, we have started paying furniture allowances, so far two Local Government Councils have been paid, and the Chairman of the councilors forum can attest to this”, Achabo maintained.

The special adviser equally promised that the remaining Local Government Areas yet to receive the allowances would be paid this month assuring the chairmen and councilors that their exit would be more fruitful.

He expressed appreciation to the Chairmen and Councilors for supporting the just concluded Local Government elections in the state which saw the PDP emerging victorious in all of the Local Government Areas and equally congratulated three Chairmen that were reelected.

Responding on behalf of the council Chairmen, Mr Caleb Aba, of Guma Local Government Area who doubled as the ALGON Chairman in the state, reminded the special adviser that the Council members were on their way out as their administration has come to an end and appealed that their entitlements be paid them so that they could attend to their financial obligations.

Also speaking, leader of the councilors forum in the state, Dr Mathew Akosu, thanked Governor Samuel Ortom, for approving money for the payment of the furniture allowances and also appealed to Government to expedite action on the payment to those yet to receive, to enable their members solve pressing issues.
