Breaking: Gaidam Town Under Boko Haram Attack

Gaidam town in Yobe State is under attack by suspected members of  Boko Haram insurgents.

Residents of the town said that the attackers stormed the town around 6:30pm, and started shooting sporadically.

Mallam Idi, a resident of the town said the attacked invaded the town around 6:30pm, “Although they forewarned residents of their coming days back, so the military were not taken unaware,” he said.

Another resident who does not want his name mentioned told AljazirahNigeria that the members of  Boko Haram that they went straight to the resident of a Point of Sale (POS) operator in the town.

Resident of the area who spoke to our correspondent on the condition of anonymity revealed that “We were thrown into panic when we started hearing gunshots from most of the area in the town around 6:40pm.
“As I speak to you now we all ran home and others into the bushed, for safety.”

Source from the security agencies said that two Nigerian Air Force jets have arrived the town to support the military strength. It was learnt shootings was still ongoing as of the time of filing this report.
