BREAKING: Boko Haram Attacks Yobe, Emir Confirms

The Emir of Jajere Mai Hamza, has confirmed to AljazirahNigeria that suspected members of Boko Haram insurgents have stormed the Babbangida, town headquarters of Tarmuwa local government area in Yobe state.

He said the suspected terrorist of Boko Haram came in large numbers, later started shooting sporadically from all direction.

According to him, many residents have since scampered into the bush for safety.

“We saw hell because the terrorists pounced on us in the evening. In the twinkle of an eye, they opened fire and people started scampering for their lives,” Ali Goni said.

Mallam Bukar Adamu, said “We are currently in the bush running for our lives; I believe you can hear the sound of the gunshots,” the source said

A resident of the town who told AljazirahNigeria that the terrorists reportedly stormed Babbangida town, according a fleeing survivor.

“Those of us who were lucky, escaped through the bushes. About now, many of our fellow villagers have been trapped and I fear they may have been killed.”

Residents also said that the Boko Haram fighters were later repelled by troops of the Nigerian Army.

The security personnel who does not want a mention of his name in print, confirmed the attack to AljazirahNigeria.

He said, “Yes, there was an attack but it was repelled.”

Also confirming it, the police spokesperson in the state, Abdulkarem Dungus, said:
“for now I am yet to get details. I will get back to you as soon as we get more on the attack.”

Authorities are yet to confirm the attack and fatalities. Calls to military spokespersons were not answered.
