Borno: Zulum To Resuscitate Biu Dam, Boost Irrigation Farming

Borno State governor, Babagana Zulum has pledged to revitalise  Biu Dam to enhance irrigation farming in the southern part of the state.

The governor disclosed this during a traditional homage to the Emir of Biu, Mai Mustapha Umar Mustapha II, at his palace in Biu, as part of his two-day working visit to the area.

Governor Zulum noted that his administration  places significant emphasis on irrigation farming as part of its efforts to improve food security and provide sustainable livelihood for victims of Boko Haram insurgency.

According to him, “Agriculture is one of the cardinal pillars of my administration and we will continue to invest in the sector to ensure food security.”

The governor also announced that more developmental projects would be rolled out in the area before the end of his tenure. 

He emphasised the importance of unity among political leaders, which he believes will result in increased opportunities and prosperity for Borno.

In response, Alhaji Mustapha commended the governor for the execution of numerous people-oriented projects in his emirate. 

He also praised Governor Zulum for launching a N1 billion empowerment programme  aimed at supporting youths and other vulnerable individuals in the area.
