Borno State Constitute 5-Men Committee Over Attempted Murder of a Student

Borno state Ministry of education, has constituted a five-men committee to investigate the recent incident at El-kanemi college of Islamic theology, Maiduguri over the attempted murder by one of the 16-year-old senior students, Umar Goni, of a junior student identified as Jubril Sadi Mato.

The statement signed and issued by the permanent Secretary Minister of Education, Mustapha Abacha,  which was made available to AljazirahNigerian, said sequel to the recent unfortunate incident involving Jubril Sadi Mato a student of El-kanemi collage of Islamic theology” hereby constitutes of five-man committee with you as chairman to investigate and arrive at the remote causes of the incident and suggest ways to curtail its re-occurrence in the future.”

The statement added that members of the committee are the following, Representative of commissioner of police, Borno state command, Representative of DSS, Borno state command,  Representative of commandant NSCDC, Borno state command, and Hajiya Nasir Wali, Director quality Assurance, Ministry of education Secretary.

“Meanwhile the committee will be expected to complete the assignment and submit the report to Honourable commissioner of education within one week.”

Meanwhile, the State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of the 16-year- old student of Elkanemi College of Islamic Theology Maiduguri, Umar Goni, who attempted to murder the junior student identified as Jubril Mato.

In a confessional statement made available to AljazirahNigeria, the suspect said that he had been telling his parents to remove him from the hostel but they continually declined as such his decision to commit the crime which, according to him, will compel the parents to take him away from the school.

“I did this thing because I told my parents to remove me from the hostel but they did not remove me,” he said.

The teenager who expressed regret over his actions begged for forgiveness and prayed for the child’s speedy recovery.

While talking to AljazirahNigeria the state Commissioner of education Hon, Lawan Abba Wakil be, described the incident as “unfortunate”, while confirming that Goni is currently in police custody.

“But one thing I will tell you is that the culprit is in police custody and his identity is known, and further details will be given to you people as soon as the committee of enquiry finishes its investigation.”
