A total of 9,781 students have been matriculated into various degree programs of the University of Maiduguri.

The Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Ibrahim Njodi stated this during the 38th matriculation ceremony in Maiduguri.

Professor Njodi said despite the security situation in Borno state, over 40,000 candidates applied for admission into the institution for the 2018/2019 academic session.

As peace is gradually returning to the state, the University of Maiduguri has continued to attract an unprecedented number of prospective candidates
throughout the country and even beyond.

He cautioned the matriculating students against getting involved in examination malpractice, cultism, drug abuse, and violent demonstration.

Professor Njodi also warned that the university authority will not hesitate to deal decisively with any student or group of students who indulge themselves in any activity that will cause a breach of peace on the campus.

Faculty of Science has the highest number of registered students with 2,824 students while the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine got the least with 79 students.
