Suspected Boko Haram members launched a heavy night attack in Yamtake in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

The terrorists killed two soldiers and an undisclosed number of civilians.

A local security agency confirmed that the suspected attackers stormed the village late Thursday night, opened fire and directly launched a heavy attack on military formation in Yamtake. They killed soldiers and many civilians.

A credible military source confirmed to AljazirahNigeria that the  military lost some personnel, but emphasised the need for patience until the reinforcement team returns from the scene.

It added that we spent hours  waiting for the reinforcement team to return, but we learnt that two of our men and other civilians were affected during the attack.

One of the residents said  Yamtake is one of the communities recently resettled by the Borno State government.

The leader of the community, who craved anonymity, condemned the recent attack on Yamtake, stressing that the terrorists made an attempt to infiltrate Gwoza town, but  troops repelled them.

In a similar development, suspected  ISWAP terrorists  bombed a bridge  linking Ngurbuwa to Gonori township in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State, witnesses and security sources have said.

Intelligence sources from Zagazola Makama confirmed that the  attack occurred at 10:30pm on Thursday, using an explosive device to destroy the remaining part of the bridge.

Credible information confirmed that this act of terrorism has disrupted movement between the two communities.

An official of the local vigilante in Gujba town told AljazirahNigeria that the bridge came under attack shortly after the gunmen wanted to enter Goniri village.

One of the village heads who does not want his name in print confirmed the destruction of the  bridge  linking Ngurbuwa-Goniri.

He added that, ” As I am speaking to you now, our people are suffering to cross the road before reaching our town,” he said.

Some residents of Ngurbuwa have called on the state government to repair the road and deploy more security personnel to guard the remaining  bridges in the areas.

A resident of Ngurbuwa urged President Bola Tinubu and security agencies to urgently deploy adequate security personnel to Gujba Local Government to curb the prevailing security challenges in the area.

He expressed concern that residents of the state, particularly those in Gujba, Buni Yadi, Goniri and Katarko can no longer sleep with their two eyes closed at night or able to go to their farms and other lawful businesses during the day  as a result of the nefarious activities of  Boko Haram.
