Boko Haram Attacks Yobe Community, Sets Police Station, School Ablaze As Residents  Flee

Suspected members of Boko Haram terrorists attacked Buni Yadi town in Gujba local government area of Yobe state, burnt police station, primary school, local sources have reported.

A resident of the village who told AljazirahNigeria that the terrorists reportedly stormed Buni Yadi  town around 5:30pm,  in the Gujba local Government Area, according a fleeing survivor.

Source said the suspected terrorist of Boko Haram came in large numbers, started shooting sporadically from all direction.

“Those of us who were lucky, escaped through the bushes. About now, many of our fellow villagers have been trapped and I fear they may have been killed.”

Another source said police station, school  were destroyed by suspected insurgents.

Source from the community confirmed to our correspondent that the military fighter jets have engaged the terrorists with aerial bombardment.

A fleeing resident who did not want a mention of his name, said his house might have been destroyed in the attack by the insurgents who stormed the town.

“We saw hell because the terrorists pounced on us in the everning on Tuesday, and in the twinkling of an eye, they opened fire and people started scampering for their lives,” resident ,said.

“They burnt police station, primary school and carted away valuables Possibly, many are feared killed,” he said.

Residents source also said that the Boko Haram fighters were later repelled by troops of the Nigerian Army.

The security personnel who does not want mentioned his name in print, confirmed the attack to AljazirahNigeria.

He said, “Yes, there was an attack but it was repelled.”

Also confirming it, the police spokesperson in the state, Abdulkarem Dungus, said: “for now I am yet to get details. I will get back to you as soon we get more on the attack.”

Authorities have yet to confirm the attack and fatalities. Calls to military spokespersons were not answered.
