Acting Chairman Benue State Internal Revenue Service, BIRS, Emmanuel Agema has emphasized the need for a strong synergy between ministries and MDAs to enable the service improve its revenue generation in the state.
Speaking during a meeting with the commissioner for Water Resources, Environment and Climate Change, when he paid a working visit to the ministry, Agema described such synergy as necessary, adding that the tasks of revenue generation to assist government develop the state should be a collective responsibility.
The BIRS boss in a statement by his media assistant,Jacintha Bernard yesterday in Makurdi, told the commissioner that the service in its bid to sensitize government ministries, departments and agencies partnered the department of Tourism in the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism to enable the service collect Hotel levies, pointing out that the partnership has been successful.
He further revealed that the aim of his visit to the ministry is to foster effective synergy to improve revenue generation in the state to support the present administration to develop critical infrastructure as well as the provision of social amenities to the great people of Benue State, acknowledging that Governor Alia’s giant strides within one year in office has encouraged tax payers to believe that their monies are in safe hands.
Responding, commissioner of the ministry of water resources, environment and climate change, Ode Ugwu promised to collaborate with BIRS to enhance development of the state.
