From Henry Ibya, Makurdi
Vice President Kashim Shettima will visit Benue State today to commission several projects, including the largest fashion hub in the country, executed by the state government.
Governor Hyacinth Alia made this known at the 18th priestly ordination anniversary of his Spiritual Director and Chaplain, Reverend Father Clement Ugo, at the Chapel of Grace, Government House, Makurdi.
Represented by his Private Principal Secretary, Dr Emmanuel Chenge, Alia invited Benue people to attend the groundbreaking ceremony.
The governor emphasized that his administration is not only focused on paying salaries, clearing arrears, pensions and constructing roads, but is also working on other projects and urged the people to take interest in what government is doing for them.
Alia congratulated his Spiritual Director on his 18th ordination anniversary, charging him to remain committed to God’s work.
He also encouraged the people to attend church willingly and support the priest, describing him as a dedicated servant of God.
In his sermon, Reverend Father Ugo advised believers to make wise decisions that uplift their spiritual well-being, to enable them escape God’s wrath on judgment day.
Chairman of the occasion and Chief Medical Director of BSUTH, Stephen Hwande, stressed the need for Christians to continue praying and supporting the Alia administration to build a new Benue.
The vice president’s visit is expected to boost economic development in Benue State and the commissioning of the fashion hub is a significant milestone in the state’s efforts to promote entrepreneurship and job creation.
