Nigerian Union of Pensioners, NUP, Benue State chapter has  expressed willingness to support Governor Hyacinth Alia’s administration to actualise its policies aimed at uplifting the welfare of the people.

Speaking during an interview with AljazirahNigeria yesterday in Makurdi, Secretary of the union, Comrade Saater Nyamgen revealed that the senior citizens plan to purchase the gubernatorial form for the governor ahead of the 2027 general elections is a mark of appreciation towards his efforts in addressing their welfare.

Nyamgen stated that the union is determined to reciprocate the governor’s gesture, which he said had improved their lives.

He noted that the previous administration’s neglect led to many pensioners dying from hunger and starvation due to unpaid entitlements, noting that since Governor Alia took over office, their entitlements are being paid, bringing relief to the retirees.

The NUP secretary lamented that lack of entitlements had deprived them of basic necessities, including medical care, asserting that many pensioners  died due to poverty.

Nyamgen disclosed that the union is working tirelessly to raise funds to fulfil its promise, which is to purchase re-election forms for Governor Alia’s second term.
