From Our Correspondent

Gunmen suspected to be bandits yesterday abducted two nurses and yet-to-be ascertained number of patients from a primary healthcare centre in Kuyallo, Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The gunmen were said to have targeted the nearby Government Day Secondary School at 9am yesterday, but eventually invaded the health centre when they found no one in the school.

The leader of a local vigilante group in the area, Musa Alhassan told newsmen that the bandits, who were seeking to abduct students, however, kidnapped two female nurses and several patients, throwing the community into panic.

According to Alhassan, “The bandits came to the school around 9am, asking about the students, but when they found out that it was empty, they went to the health centre and started kidnapping people.

“The exact number of patients kidnapped is still unknown.”

An eyewitness revealed that the bandits came into the health centre wielding guns and machetes, and dragged people out of the hospital.

This is the latest in a series of attacks by bandits in the state.

Meanwhile, the state government is yet to issue a statement on the incident.
