Sokoto State government has donated N10 million, four trucks of rice and maize to families affected by banditry in Isa Local Government Area.

Governor Ahmed Aliyu stated this while speaking at the flag-off of the distribution of relief materials to the affected families in the area.

According to him, the gesture is aimed at putting smiles on the faces of the families of those killed and kidnapped in the series of attacks by bandits in the area.

He also announced a donation of N10 million from Senator Aliyu Wamakko in addition to the N10 million from the state government, as well as four trucks of rice and maize, totalling 2,400 bags.

According to the governor’s press secretary, Abubakar Bawa, Governor Aliyu expressed worry over the activities of bandits.

“As a government, we are doing everything humanly possible to end banditry through various means, such as giving our security agencies all the needed support to secure the state,” he said.

While commending the efforts of security agencies in securing the state, the governor tasked them to put in more efforts in that direction.

“In order to compliment the efforts of our security personnel, we established the Sokoto State Community Guards Corps with the sole aim of protecting our rural dwellers,” he added.

Governor Aliyu also appealed to the people of the state, especially those in the areas worst affected by banditry to always assist security agencies with relevant information on any suspicious movement.

Also speaking, Senator Wamakko commended Aliyu for executing various people-oriented projects across the state.

He called on the people to continue to support the present administration in its efforts to develop the state.
