Defending champions, Zamalek Sporting Club ,ZMK, of Egypt, and Al-Ahly Sporting Club ,AHL, of Egypt, have recorded victories in their quarter-final battles at the ongoing 2025 African Women’s Volleyball Club Championship in Abuja.
Reports have it that Al-Ahly Sporting Club ,AHL, of Egypt became the first team to reach the semi-finals, beating Kenya Prisons Volleyball Club ,PRI, of Kenya 3-1 (25-12, 25-20, 22-25, 27-25) on Wednesday.
The nine-time winners (1999, 2000, 2003, 2007, 2009, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019) will face Carthage of Tunisia in the semi-finals on Friday.
While the Carthage of Tunisia defeated Litto Team Volleyball ,LTV, of Cameroon 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-22), showing professionalism and tenacity to secure their semi-final spot.
In another quarter-final game, Kenya Pipeline ,KPC, humbled Armee Patriotique Rwandaise Volleyball Club ,APR, of Rwanda with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-14) victory, setting up a semi-final battle with Zamalek Sporting Club.
In the last quarter-final duel, Kenya Commercial Bank ,KCB, lost 1-3 to Zamalek Sporting Club ,ZMK, of Egypt.
The Egyptians were held to a 1-1 draw in the first two sets . Since the beginning of the competition this is first time zamalek will drop a set but rejuvenated to win two consecutive sets (25-20, 23-25, 25-20, 25-21).
The semi-final fixtures are as follows:Zamalek Sporting Club vs Kenya Pipeline Company Volleyball Club ,KPC, at 4 pm.
Club Femini De Carthage vs. Al-Ahly Sporting Club at 6 pm.
All semi-final matches will be played on friday at the Indoor sports hall of Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, featuring 16 teams are participating in the championship holding between April 1 to 14.
