AVM Sadiq Is Next Bauchi Governor Because Bala Has Failed – Gololo

DR. HASSAN GAURUS GOLOLO, AN ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS, APC CHIEFTAIN AND STAUNCH SUPPORTER OF FORMER CHIEF OF AIR STAFF SADIQ ABUBAKAR, THE APC  FLAG BEARER IN  BAUCHI STATE BARES HIS MIND  IN AN INTERVIEW WITH ALJAZIRAHNIGERIA ABDUL LATEEF BAMGBOSE ON THE STATE AND HOW  AND WHY THE APC GUBER CANDIDATE WILL BEAT THE INCUMBENT GOVERNOR IN THE STATE.

What is your assessment of Bala Mohammed administration in Bauchi state?

For almost four years now since he assumed leadership as Governor of Bauchi state, one cannot say precisely what he has done in the state in terms of development. The last time we saw a semblance of development in the state in terms of infrastructure and provisions of amenities was during Adamu Muazu, I am saying this as an All Progressives Congress, APC Chieftain.

I am not a member of PDP, remember, Adamu Muazu is a member of the PDP in Bauchi state. The man was the best. All other Governors from Isa Yuguda, that came after him have performed abysmally. Today you have a state where a local government cannot boast of N500,000 to tackle insecurity, so the Bala Mohammed administration has not done anything, they have failed.

Despite the alleged failure the incumbent Governor, Bala Mohammed still believes the PDP will retain the state in 2023.

That is a wishful thinking, mere hallucinations. Days are gone when you can take the electorate for granted, because you believe people suffer collective amnesia that they can easily forget. The awareness is much and people are beginning to ask how their resources are being managed, who among the leaders have provided the necessary leadership from whatever, capacity, either at state or federal, military or para-military. You don’t just jump into the race. That is why Air Vice Marshal Sadiq, the immediate past Chief of Air staff could beat other contestants at the governorship primaries in the state to pick the All Progressive Congress, APC ticket.

His achievements in the Air  Force are  visible. They are there  for everyone to see. In Bauchi state, there is no senatorial zone that has not benefitted from his years of service in the Air force, in terms of recruitments, training, scholarship and even provision of amenities .

Among his colleagues as service chiefs, he was rated the best in terms of personnel welfare and management of available resources in the fight against insurgence. He is a very moderate personality whom throughout his service years in the military was not associated with any scandal. We should encourage officers like Sadiq to seek political offices because he is not coming as Governor to steal or to accumulate wealth like politicians who are ruing the state today.

In Bauchi we have an Air field, training ground and Air force base and this has contributed a lot to the escalations of insurgence and related crimes in Bauchi state and environs. His welfare program in the Air force is second to none, not like a Governor who cannot even pay salary, but would always blame it on federal allocations.

Uncharitable politicians and opposition in the state are of the opinions that he is not in control of the party machinery and that he is not on ground politically?

These are mere propaganda, it only exist in the realm of speculation, he on the ground and he is 100 per cent in control of the party machinery otherwise how could he have emerged as the flagbearer of APC in the state?

Air Vice Marshal Sadiq will win; mark my words. You can take this to the bank, we are talking of integrity and reputation. The people with him are well-grounded, the ordinary people, the indigents and those that have suffered years of neglects as a result of maladministration and corruption in the state are more than the few who have access to the state treasury and this are the people that are supporting him.

There are also fears that recent defections from the APC in the state after the governorship primaries might affect the the outcome of the elections.

It is normal after any major elections, it is not limited to Bauchi state, like Yakubu Dogara, he was elected speaker on the platform of APC, he crossed over to PDP and came back to APC. In PDP, he could not even win his constituency. Did he win? So when we are talking of politicians, talking of structure we are not talking of people like Dogara and  Adamu Adamu, the minister of Education , they are in all the political parties, once they lose here they move to another parties.

The structure they are talking about depends on how many people you have helped. You are there helping yourselves and your family and you are talking of structure.

At your backyard in Bauchi state, a female candidate, Senator Binani also picked the APC ticket in Adamawa state, against all permutations, what is your take on this?

Interestingly, I have been following the political activities of Senator Binani who I fondly referred to as Man-woman. I was not to say the least surprise that she could emerge as the flagbearer of APC in Adamawa state, it is a confirmation of her love for the people and her contributions to the state.

This is a woman who has paid her dues in terms of empowerment, job creations in the state. She has proved to the world that politics is not a men’s world, as a woman you can excel and attain the zenith of your career with the right mentality.

Binani’s emergence is a revolt against stereotyping, for her to have defeated people like Nuhu Ribadu in a primary, she has set a record and she is going to be the first female governor in the history of Nigeria. Go to the villages in Adamawa she has provided them with solar power, boreholes name them, that is why I am appealing to Nuhu Ribadu to join her in actualizing her ambition.

He should not go to court, because Nuhu has been with Tinubu, he was given ACN ticket which he lost, this is the time to reciprocate that gesture not by going to court to distract a candidate whose election will be an added advantage to Tinubu.
