Nigerian Army yesterday confirmed the arrest of the suspected killer of a 300-level student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, FUNAAB, Ogun State, Idowu Christiana.
Christiana was abducted by suspected kidnappers along Ikorodu-Yaba Road, Lagos State, on August 19.
According to a family source, the abductors initially demanded a ransom of N3 million before they could release the student.
However, after several pleas, the abductors accepted N350,000 which was sent to their account but they refused to free the student.
Meanwhile, authorities of the Nigerian Army yesterday disclosed that Adeleye Ayomide, is responsible for the student’s death.
Spokesperson of 81 Division, Nigerian Army, Lagos, Lieutenant-Colonel Olabisi Ayeni, who confirmed Ayomide’s arrest, said the suspect was arrested by men of 174 Battalion.
“Yes. I am aware of the issue. We arrested him and 9 Brigade will hand him over to the Lagos State Police Command today, so you can liaise with them for further information,” Ayeni said.
