Newly appointed Commander of 302 Artillery Regiment, Nigerian Army, Onitsha, Colonel Adamu Muhammad has lauded the efforts of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in enhancing the security of lives and property in Anambra State.
Colonel Muhammad gave the commendation yesterday when he paid a familiarisation visit to the State Commandant of NSCDC, Maku Olatunde, at the command headquarters in Awka.
The commander acknowledged the strong partnership between the two agencies and pledged to strengthen their collaboration, effectively tackling security concerns and fostering a tranquil atmosphere for Anambra residents.
Muhammad disclosed that the visit was necessary to familiarise himself with the NSCDC and seek strengthened synergy, which he said is critical to mitigating crime.
“I want to appreciate the commandant for such a warm welcome. When we met for the first time, it was as if we had known each other for a long time.
“We have been seeing but I decided to make it formal today. The essence is for us to get to know ourselves for better cohesion, synergy and sharing of ideas necessary to keep our work flowing,” he said.
He praised NSCDC’s remarkable achievements in the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure, and in maintaining peace and stability in the state.
“I am delighted to be here, having worked alongside the NSCDC in various operations. I must commend your team’s exceptional professionalism, dedication and effectiveness in carrying out their duties,” Muhammad added.
Responding, Olatunde emphasised the importance of inter-agency cooperation in combating insecurity in some volatile areas of the state.
He appreciated the support of the Nigerian Army to the NSCDC, stating that such synergy would boost operational capabilities, intelligence sharing and capacity building among the two agencies.
