APC House Of Reps Candidate Blames Adamu For Party Crisis In Nasarawa

By David Christopher, Lafia

The All Progressives Congress, APC, flagbearer for Nasarawa/Toto Federal Constituency of Nasarawa State ahead of 2023 general elections, Hon. Mohammed Yerima Albashir, has described the defection of aggrieved aspirants who left the party after primary elections to other political parties as a huge setback to the party in the state

Albashir who made the assertion in an exclusive interview with AljazirahNigeria shortly after a  function in Edegen Mbeki in Nasarawa Local Government Area of the state, yesterday, also blamed the party on the said matter.

“Of course it is an obstacle for the party because if you have 10 people and one person moved out you become nine which is a minus to the party.

“And one very unfortunate thing that happened to the party in Nasarawa State today is that the aggrieved ones that left defected to SDP, NNPP and so on, while the PDP being our major opposition party in the state remain intact and also grows bigger because Mr. Labaran Maku left APGA and joined them” he said.

He gave an example that during the 2019 gubernatorial election in the state, Mr. Maku of the then APGA polled 132 thousand votes and David Ombugadu of PDP pulled 186 thousand votes while the sitting governor Engineer A A Sule of APC scored 327 votes, which if minus the two the difference will be only 10 thousand votes as such this should serve as a wake-up call for the APC to reorganize and put its house in order.

“Giving the above scenario it has become highly imperative for the APC to have a rethink of it actions and in actions so as not to allow the oppositions parties take over the state, because, as it is now, the party is just like a divided house that fight against itselves” he asserted.

Albashir pushed the blamed on the national chairman of the party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, for some of the crisis that the party is facing in the state, advising him to use his wisdom and do the needful before the forthcoming general elections.
