Another Gas Explosion Razes Vehicles, Goods In Niger

Explosion at a gas filling station in Sabon Wuse, Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State has destroyed vehicles, foodstuff and other goods.

The incident occurred around 1pm on Saturday when a tanker was offloading gas. 

The ensuing inferno raged for hours before firefighters arrived to contain it.

A resident who spoke with newsmen, Abdul Sabon-Wusa described the incident as terrifying, saying it sent shockwaves through nearby communities, forcing people to flee their homes for safety.

“The fire extended to parts of a nearby petrol station, burning shops filled with foodstuff and vehicles. We thank Allah that no life was lost and no one sustained injuries. If it had happened during the day when people were conducting their businesses, it would have been another sad story in Niger State,” he said.

He added that the intensity of the blaze was visible from across the town, underscoring the gravity of the explosion.

Authorities are yet to provide an official statement on the cause of the explosion or assess the full extent of the damage.
