As the former Governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, marks his 60th birthday on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, friends, associates and aides have concluded plans for a special commemorative Golf tournament in his honour.
A statement made available to Journalists by his Special Aide, Comrade Ordinance Emeji, who is also the competition’s secretary, said the tournament became necessary as a mark of honour for their principal in view of his track – record of achievements in public service to Rivers state and Nigeria.
He disclosed that the event billed for the Golf section of the Port Harcourt Club would attract prominent golfers within the state and the international community.
According to Emeji, the former Transportation minister, having served the state and the nation diligently, has been touching the lives of the people positively even as he has temporarily taken a break from politics.
He said: “Come the 28th of this month, golfers in Rivers state and beyond will be competing for honours in the Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi 60th birthday Golf Classic
“The tournament will hold at the golf section of Port Harcourt Club, and it promises to be exciting in the light of the mouth watering prizes line up for participants who come tops in their categories
“Moreso, this tournament is being organised to sustain the legacies of the former governor of Rivers state Governor, who left an indelible mark in the course of governing the state with several infrastructural projects executed under his watch.
“In addition, this tournament is worthwhile to celebrate the former minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria whose legacies will stand the test of time as a visionary leader who meant well for Rivers people with the creation of jobs and ensuring that the state was in tranquility for investors to do business in the state”.
