Former Deputy Speaker of Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, and Jiwa Ward Councillor, Hon.Yunusa Dantani Sarki, has declared his intention contest for the chairmanship of the Area Council AMAC on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC
Hon Sarki, also, a former Supervisory Councillor and Special Adviser made the declaration at the party’s local government council secretariat, Wuse, Abuja Thursday.
He said that he was in the race to bring his experience to bear and bring development to the area council as well as put it on the global economic map.
The chairmanship aspirant who decried the divisions amongst stakeholders in the party and council pledged to unity the party, APC , indigenes and non indigenes if elected.
He disclosed that his major priority is to bring all the major stakeholders to work together in harmony for the peace and development of the area council, saying that ” development can’t take place where there is no unity”
Unfolding his blueprint, Hon. Sarki said he will focus on agriculture, health, education, human capital development as well as infrastructure and empowerment of youths, women and aged.
He said “Today’s assignment is very simple ,to interface with my Local government party executives for them to know me and I know them , interact and then declare my ambition.
“I have carefully studied Abuja Municipal Area Council for a period of time and I realized that one of our major problems is unity, when there is no unity, there cannot be development, I will bridge the gap between indigenes and non- indigenes, male and female, young and old and father and children.
“Mr chairman, APC is divided and we need a platform and someone to unity APC for the development of the council, this is why I offer myself for the job, to unity the council.
“I have consulted party leaders and stakeholders, even beyond and I was urged to come out and contest for the council chairmanship to unite the party.
“I have a lot to harness and do in AMAC, for example agriculture. We have Karasana farms where we produce and subsidize foods, today where is Karasana farms? We have trained agric extension workers in AMAC but not they are not utilized.
“We are busy building health centers without equipment and manpower, I will liaise with foreign bodies and Non- governmental organizations to develop the health sector.
“We need to improve on our education and increase our human capital development as well as empower the people and take care of our party secretariat and staff.
“We will also take infrastructural development as one of our priorities to open up the rural areas for development”.
Hon Sarki, who urged the party executives to provide a level playing field for the choice of the party’s candidate at the primary noted that he has the right credentials and experience to fly the party’s flag to victory at the poll.
While speaking, chairman of the APC, AMAC chapter, Alhaji Murthar Abubakar hailed the aspirant for visiting the party’s secretariat, wishing him well in his pursuit.
