Benue State governor, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia has called for unity among the people to end the lingering security challenges.
The governor made the call on Sunday while presenting a mid-term report at the township stadium in Vandeikya Local Government Area.
Alia lamented the recent surge in brutal armed herders attacks on Benue communities, describing it as a troubling challenge that requires unity of purpose and decisive actions.
He called on the people to forget their political differences and unite in the fight against the external attacks on their communities.
The governor also urged them to observe a minute silence for those who died from the unprovoked attacks and to help be the eyes of security in their various communities.
He also appealed to the people to stop the infighting between clans and districts, but come together as a strong force against external invaders.
Governor Alia expressed gratitude to the federal government for deploying additional security personnel to help restore peace and order in the state, highlighting his administration’s achievements in the areas of education, health, ICT, agriculture, infrastructure, security, transportation and human capital development, and called on the people to continue their support for him to do more.
Also speaking, Chairman of the occasion and the member representing Katsina-ala/Ukum and Logo Federal Constituency, Solomon Wombo appreciated Kunav people for the love shown to their son, the governor, appealing for more support.
On his part, Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Moses Atagher appealed to Benue people to re-elect Governor Alia to enable him consolidate on his achievements.
