Alia Condoles Borno Gov Over Suicide Bombing In Borno

Benue State governor, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia has expressed deep condolence to his Borno State counterpart, Babagana Zulum over the tragic and devastating suicide bombings that occurred in Gwoza town. 

The governor in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula in Makurdi, described the attack which claimed the lives of more than 18 innocent Nigerians with over 40 others sustaining injuries as heart-wrenching and deeply saddening.

He equally noted as distressing, reports of the attack which targeted a wedding ceremony, funeral and a hospital, describing the incident as not only a direct assault on the affected families, but also on the entire people of Borno State.

According to Governor Alia, his heart goes out to the families who lost loved ones and to those that suffered injuries and trauma as a result of the heinous acts, adding that such senseless act of violence against innocent individuals celebrating significant life events should be condemned by all people of good conscience.

He urged the people to know that the thoughts and prayers of Benue people are with them, especially the grieving families and all the residents of Borno State during this incredibly difficult time, praying for the swift recovery of the injured and the continued safety and security of Borno State.

While praying for the souls of the departed to rest in peace, asking God Almighty to grant the affected families the fortitude to bear the loss of their loved ones, the governor expressed belief that peace would prevail in the state and perpetrators of the senseless acts would be brought to justice.
