From Henry Ibya, Makurdi
Benue State governor, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia has assured the people that his administration is doing everything to ensure their safety.
Governor Alia, who gave the assurance in a statement yesterday in Makurdi through his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, while felicitating Christians for another Easter celebration, regretted that this year’s Easter was marked at a time that the state had come under several attacks.
He noted that Christ’s sacrifice and resurrection demonstrate selflessness by freeing humanity from chaos and condemnation, adding that the celebration had nurtured hope and optimism for a life of virtue on earth and eternity.
He called for collaboration amongst the people in order to defeat the forces of evil who are bent on causing pain and agony to innocent people of the state and across the country.
The governor solicited prayers, love for one another, forgiveness, sacrifice and reconciliation, which he said are the dominant virtues that Jesus Christ bequeathed to mankind as a result of his death, burial and resurrection.
He prayed for God’s grace and blessings over the people of the state during and after the period of Easter.
