Member representing Eket/Esit Eket/Onna/Ibeno Federal Constituency, Mr Okpolupm Etteh,  presented a cheque of N14.4 million to the Akwa Ibom State Health Insurance Scheme for his constituents enrollment.

The lawmaker, who presented the cheque  during his visit to the office Thursday in Uyo, said  the amount would cover the enrollment of 800 members of his constituency into the scheme.

Etteh, represented by the PDP Eket Central, Ward 1 Leader, Mr Kingsley Mbre, said  he is in support of the ‘ARISE Health’ policy of the Governor Umo Eno led-administration.

Eno flagged off the scheme  on September 20, 2024.

Etteh noted that with sound health, the people would be able to maximise their potentials and benefit more from government’s plans and programmes.

The lawmaker urged the people of the constituency to partake and be beneficiaries of the scheme.

Etteh commended the  governor for prioritising the health needs of the people by investing in  primary and secondary health facilities.

He added that with the effort, Akwa Ibom would become a haven for health tourists in a few years time, while assuring that the scheme would be sustained.

Receiving the team, Chairman of the scheme, Dr Edikan Ekwere, commended the lawmaker for redeeming the promise he made during the launch of the scheme by  Governor Eno.

Ekwere said the gesture is timely and thoughtful.

He noted that the scheme, aimed at pooling funds for strategic healthcare purchase, will ensure that residents have access to efficient health services to reduce expenditure.

He, however, commended the lawmaker for pledging to sustain the scheme.

Executive Secretary of the scheme, Dr Ogbeni Arthur commended the lawmaker for partnering the state government.

He assured that the team would embark on a visit for biometric capturing of the beneficiaries once a suitable date and respective venues are selected.
