
Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly yesterday received 27 names of commissioner and special adviser-nominees from Governor Umo Eno for screening and confirmation into the State Executive Council.
The governor in a message, GHU/AKS/S/104/VOL.XII/145, dated February 10 and addressed to the Speaker, Mr Udeme Otong, urged the lawmakers to confirm the list of the nominees.
The Clerk of the Assembly, Mrs Nsikak-Abasi Orok read the message during plenary.
The nominees include Messrs Uko Udom, Aniekan Umanah, Emem Ibanga, Nsikak Ekong, Ini Ememobong, Frank Archibong, Paul Bassey, Dr Offiong Offor, Dr Anietie Udofia, Messrs Iniobong Robson, and Nsikak Nkan.
Others are Captain Iniobong Ekong (rtd), Ubuo Effiong Ubuo, Mrs Inibehe Etukudo, Dr Emmanuel Ekem and Dr Ubong Inyang, Messrs Anthony Luke, Professor Ubong Essien and Henry Archibong.
Other nominees include Emem Bob, Dr Frank Ekpenyong, Dr Ekanem Ekerete, KufreAbasi Udosen, Mrs Alice Ekpenyong and Professor Eno Ibanga.
The governor’s message was received by the lawmakers, following a motion moved by the Chief Whip, Mr Effiong Johnson, seconded by Mr Lawrence Udoide (Ini State Constituency).
Speaker Otong referred the list to the House Committee on Judiciary, Justice, Human Rights and Pubic Petitions for further legislative action and to report back to the House within one week.
Meanwhile, the House adjourned plenary to Tuesday, February 18.
