Abia Confirms 1 Case Of Monkey Pox

Abia State Government yesterday confirmed one case of Monkey Pox around Isiala Ngwa.

The State Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, confirmed this at a press briefing on the outcome of the state Executive Council meeting, in Umuahia.

According to Kanu, out of 13 suspected cases in the state, only one tested positive, nine were negative and two others awaiting classification.

He added that there was no casualty yet and urged residents to maintain personal hygiene as well as keep social distancing.

The Commissioner also said that a treatment centre had been put in place by the State Government at the Abia State University Teaching Hospital, ABSUTH, Aba.
