Nigerian superstar and Afrobeats sensation Temilade Openiyi, known professionally as Tems, has triumphed by winning the Best African Music Performance category at the 67th Grammy Awards, showcasing the power of talent and dedication.

Tems, who is known for her unique style of music, won the award with her hit song Love Me JeJe, a record that made waves globally.

To win the award, the talented singer outshined other nominees who shared the same category with her, including Yemi Alade, Burna Boy, Asake and Wizkid, as well as Chris Brown featuring Davido and Lojay,

Recall that the Best African Music Performance category was introduced last year (2024), with Tyla, the South African female singer clinching the award with her hit song Water.

Tems’ victory this year brings her winnings to a total of two, as she previously won the Grammy award for Best Melodic Rap Performance in 2023.

With recognition in categories including Best Global Music Album (Born in the Wild), which also had Rema, and R&B Song (Burning), Tems earned three Grammy nominations for 2025, increasing her overall tally to eight.
