5 Killed As Bandits Attack Zamfara Village

Five persons have been reportedly killed by bandits who attacked Barkeji village in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

According to sources, the rampaging bandits also carted away domestic animals and food items.

According to Abdullahi Mohammed, an indigene of Barkeji, the victims were killed on Sunday night when the bandits attacked the village.

He said the terrorists arrived the village at night on motorcycles and shot five people dead with one person injured.

“They arrived in our village in the night on Sunday and began to shoot sporadically killing five persons on the spot.

“They also injured one other person who is currently in hospital receiving medical treatment.

“Many people including myself were able to escape into the bush”.

He explained that the bandits also carted away many domestic animals and foodstuffs.

“They broke into our houses and shops where they took away a large number of animals and food items”, Mohammed said.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Mohammed Shehu, could not be reached for comment as at the time of sending this report.
