4 Years After Boko Haram Attack, Buni Re-opens Kanamma Market, Restores Network Services

Yobe state Governor, Hon Mai Mala Buni CON, COMN, has directed re-opening of Kanamma market which was closed for more than 4 years as a result of suspected members of Boko Haram activities in the area.

Buni further ordered that the Airtel Telecommunication services in the area shut down for over 2 years be restored to support livelihoods.

Represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Yerima Lawan Mahmud, Hon Buni expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari, the Nigerian Military, the Police and other paramilitary security agencies for restoring peace in the state and the Northeast region which made it possible for the market to be re-opened.

Buni also expressed delight at the re-opening of the market which, for many years, was enhancing trans-border trade and promotion of relations between Nigeria and Niger Republic. 

Goveenor Buni reminded the people in Kanamma and other towns of the State to remain vigilant in their markets and neighborhoods and to report any suspicious activity or persons whenever they notice one to the security agencies.

The governor expressed confidence that with the support and cooperation of the people, Yobe will emerge stronger and more resilient from the security challenges that have bedeviled it for many years.
