From Damola Adeloye, Ibadan
As part of efforts to regain the lost glory of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and put it in the best position to win the general elections in 2027, its National Working Committee, NWC, has setup a 25-member committee under the leadership of a former governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola.
Addressing the committee in Ibadan on Wednesday, Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde commended the National Working Committee for putting in place the National Reconciliation Committee, noting that it is an indication that the party is ready for success in future elections.
The governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Bayo Lawal, stated this when he hosted the committee at the Government House, Ibadan, following the completion of its assignment in the South-West geopolitical zone.
He charged the NWC, Board of Trustees and elders of the party to work towards the implementation of the recommendations of the committee which he said had members with strong, rich experiences, wisdom and are capable of leading the charge to reconcile members.
The governor equally commended the committee members for the task they are undertaking, noting that Prince Oyinlola had taken part in a similar exercise for the South-West PDP before the last general elections.
“We want to say thank you to our elders that participated in this exercise. We have the Oyo State Elders Council headed by Dr Saka Balogun and Elder Wole Oyelese.
“I wish to place on record, on behalf of the governor, the commitment and responsibility of the South-West Exco of PDP in this assignment. This is most appreciated.”
Also speaking, Prince Oyinlola expressed gratitude to Governor Makinde for making arrangements that made the committee’s job simple.
He equally noted that he is moving on a familiar terrain with regards to reconciliation in the PDP, as he had played a similar role in the past, following Governor Makinde’s constitution of a committee to reconcile warring parties in the South-West PDP.
Members of the 25-man committee are former Gombe State governor, Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo as secretary; Chief Anicho Okoro (administrative secretary); Mrs Mutia Olayinka Ladoja (BOT); former Minister of State for the FCT, Oloye Jumoke Akinjide; former South-West PDP Chairman, Dr Eddy Olafeso.
