2027: Atiku, Obi, El-Rufai To Launch Coalition

Date:

By Caleb Ishaya, Abuja

Two candidates in the 2023 presidential election, former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar (PDP) and Mr. Peter Obi (LP), as well as the immediate past Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, have disclosed their intention to form a coalition to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Atiku, made this known at a Press Conference by  leaders and political stakeholders from across the country, in Abuja, yesterday.

He also confirmed that the gathering was part of ongoing efforts to kick start a coalition to unseat Tinubu.

It would be recalled that Obi and El-Rufai have in recent time stepped out political consultations.

In line with this the former

governor of Anambra State among other moves visited Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, who also doubles as Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum.

Following his visit to Bauchi, Obi was seen in a viral video breaking Ramadan fast with Muslims at Onitsha Central Mosque, a move many hailed as a bridge building measure in a country where people are sharply divided along religious and ethnic lines.

El-Rufai, also paid a visit to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, after he dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress for the Social Democratic Party.

Pundits are of the view that as preparations for the 2027 election gathers momentum the nation will continue to witness political alignments and realignment.
