A coalition within the All Progressives Congress ,APC, in Osun State on Wednesday said 25,000 youths had been mobilised towards the zoning of the party’s 2026 governorship ticket to Osun West senatorial district.
The coalition, consisting of The Progressives Frontliners ,TPF, and Coalition of Osun APC Interest Groups ,COAIG, said the youths were mobilised across the 30 Local Government Areas of the state.
A group leader, Mr Ajibade Abiodun, while addressing newsmen after the coalition’s meeting yesterday in Osogbo, said the youths would also work for APC’s victory during the 2026 governorship election.
According to Abiodun, the youths are to drive support for the zoning of the party’s ticket to the West senatorial district in the state.
“As a coalition, we realised that we have over 25,000 youths who are ready to work for the victory of the party.
“Most of these youths subscribe to our agenda on the basis that the governorship candidate of our party will emerge from Osun West”, he said.
Another group leader, Rukayat Ademola, urged the leadership of the party to support the earnest appeal of Osun West to produce the governorship candidate.
Ademola said that the senatorial district had paid its due by contributing significantly to the party’s strength and development at all levels.
According to her, it is time to honour Osun West contributions by granting the district the chance to reclaim its rightful position in the governance of our state.
“Our appeal today is directed to our esteemed President, Bola Tinubu, Chief Adebisi Akande, Minister for Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola.
“We also appealed to the national secretary of the our party, Sen. Ajibola Basiru. They are not just leaders but father figures to the APC members.
“We, respectfully, urge them to lend an ear to the earnest appeals of their children from Osun.
“This moment calls for compassionate leadership and the recognition of the vital role Osun West has played within the party.
“Granting Osun West the governorship ticket is not merely about political redistribution; it is about recognizing the district’s untiring commitment to the advancement of APC’s vision and values”, she said.
The leader also said zoning the ticket to Osun West would bolster the party’s standing in the eyes of its supporters.
“The gesture will also act as a beacon of hope and unity, demonstrating that every district is integral to our collective progress”, Ademola said.
