2025 Budget: Adamawa Pledges Priority To Citizens’ Nominated Projects

Adamawa Government says  it will give priority to citizens’ nominated projects in 2025 budget, for more development at the grassroots.

Mr Anthony Emmanuel, Commissioner for  Budget and Economic Planning, said this on Thursday at Public Budget consultation meeting in Ganye Local Government Area.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the exercise is in collaboration with the United States Agency for  International Development ,USAID’s State2State activity across 21 LGAs.

The Commissioner said, Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri was serious on the issue  and was  committed to  transforming the state at all levels.

He urged the participants to actively participate in the discussions, to share ideas and experiences on the priority projects, needed in their respective communities.

“We are doing this based on international best  practices to ensure transparency, accountability and effectiveness in governance.

“Budget is a life wire of development and we are interested in the outcome of the meeting. I am assuring  you that your voices are heard and your priorities will be  reflected in our budget planning process”, he said.

Mr Abbas Kiri, Permanent Secretary Ministry for LG, said the  consultations were around  future developments at the grassroots, which were needed  to be captured through the citizens’ contributions.

“Don’t take it for granted, be serious by identifying capital projects you want to be captured in the budget and executed in your respective communities”, he said.

Kiri further advised the stakeholders to take ownership of the budget by ensure monitoring during  implementation.

In his address, Mr Iheanyi Iheke, State2State’s LG Manager, said the objectives of the meeting  were  to ensure inclusive budget, enhance its process and promote citizens’ participation in monitoring  its implementation.

“The State2State activity  is now in its final year as the intervention would end  in August 2025. I want to advise state officials to sustain the programme for Adamawa budget to continue to be citizens’ driven and realistic”, he said.

Ms Chabiyada Eli, Gender Officer State2State, urged the stakeholders to ensure social inclusion in identifying their projects for everyone to be carried along.

Faruk Muhammad, Chairman Ganye LG, represented by the council Secretary, Abubakar Ribadu,  appreciated State2State for the meeting.
