The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has warned financial institutions that will participate in the sale of the 2023 Unified Tertiary  Matriculation Examination (UTME) against the extortion of prospective candidates.

The Board in its  recent Weekly Bulletin disclosed that only financial institutions who registered with the Board would be allowed to vend its e-PINS.

Speaking during an interactive session with financial institutions, the registrar while commending the institutions for their support over the years, urged them to continue to be upright in their dealings with the prospective UTME and Direct Entry candidates so as not to run foul of the Board’s rules of engagement.

He explained that in the past payment for the Mock-UTME was made to the CBT centers on the day of the examination  but stated that it was observed that most candidates who indicated interest to sit for the mock, ended up not showing up resulting to waste of manpower and resources.

The registrar disclosed that it was this development that made the Board to impose a fee of N1000 payable  at the point of registration by candidates interested in taking the Mock examination to ensure their commitment.

He reminded the financial institutions that they would be held accountable for the actions of their sub-agents and should ensure that only credible staff are employed to man their operations.

The registrar explained that candidates have the options of paying through banks, mobile money operators and online payment on the JAMB portal through remita/interswitch among others.

Oloyede while explaining the seamless payment process, stated that each candidate must have obtained the National Identification Number(NIN) as that is the only gateway to the registration because candidates would first create a profile by sending NIN, followed by space, then the eleven–digit number(NIN) to 55019 or 66019.

Recall that the sale of the 2023 UTME application documents would commence on Saturday, January 14, 2023 and end on Tuesday  February 14, 2023.
