A presidential aspirant of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Nkaraonye Chibuzor, met with Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to discuss possible areas of advancing the future of Nigerian youth.

The NNPP aspirant, Chibuzor in a statement on Tuesday, said the meeting with Atiku became necessary owing to the plight of the youth which he presented.

“I had a productive meeting with Atiku Abubakar to express the strong support and interest of the youth in his vision for the next election,” he said.

He said the meeting with Atiku featured discussions centred on the role of young people in shaping the future and ensuring their voices are heard in the political landscape. “It was an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to
leadership that prioritizes progress, inclusivity, and the aspirations of the next
generation.”

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, both politicians discussed pressing concerns of the youth, centred on the crucial role young people play in shaping the future of the country and the need for inclusive leadership that prioritises their interests.

“The youth are not just spectators in the political landscape; they are active participants who desire real change, and it was important to convey this message to him,” he said.

The former aspirant said the discussion focused on the issue of unemployment, which has remained one of the most significant challenges facing young people today. “The lack of job opportunities have led to frustration, disillusionment, and a growing sense of hopelessness among many graduates and skilled individuals,” Chibuzor added.

The NNPP presidential aspirant said Atiku Abubakar recognises and understands that for Nigeria to move forward, there must be deliberate efforts to create jobs, foster innovation, and support entrepreneurship. “His vision for economic growth includes strategic policies aimed
at addressing unemployment through both public and private sector initiatives.”

“Beyond job creation, we also delved into the importance of youth empowerment programs. It is not enough to provide jobs; young people must be equipped with the necessary skills and resources to thrive in an evolving economy.

“We discussed initiatives that would focus on vocational training, digital innovation, and small business support, ensuring that youths are not just seeking employment but also becoming job creators themselves.”

He said Atiku Abubakar expressed his commitment to fostering an environment where young entrepreneurs can flourish through access to funding, mentorship, and government-backed initiatives designed to encourage self-reliance and economic independence.

He said the Nigerian youth deserve a future where talents are recognised, and potential is harnessed for contributions to national development, adding that Atiku Abubakar assured that his leadership would be focused on making this vision a reality.

He advised young people to stay engaged, informed, and proactive in shaping the future they want to see, adding that leadership, is about vision, action, and results.
