By Henry Ibya, Makurdi

Management of Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi, has assured fans, supporters and stakeholders that they would do everything possible to rebrand the club by restructuring, overhauling and transforming the entire structure with recruitment of quality players to ensure optimal performance of the club in next year’s soccer season, with the aim of finishing in the top three, to pick a continental ticket.

Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the club Mr Dominic Iorfa, who gave the assurance in Makurdi, at a press conference after the club escaped relegation in the just concluded National league, expressed happiness over the development.

” I am happy to address you today as one of the critical stakeholders of football in our dear state Benue, and by extension to inform the general public through you the press that our darling team Lobi Stars FC, the pride of Benue is finally rescued from relegation” Iorfa revealed.

” It is a thing of joy for all of us as we give thanks to the Almighty God who made everything possible even when all hope was lost for the team to survive having taken over the club from the bottom 19th position.

” You will equally recall that I took over the job of this rescue mission when all hope was lost for the club to survive relegation, the club had played 19 matches from 19 games and placed bottom 19 position”.

He pointed out that because of the confidence Governor Samuel Ortom, and Benue people had reposed in him,he decided to take it upon himself to mobilize every machinery both within and outside the state to pull the club out  from relegation the job many thought would be impossible.

The former Super Eagles player who said Benue soccer fans must count their blessings after fighting and winning relegation which is like a war, noted that whatever resources that were committed in the fight, is is worth it and the people are happy that the battle has been won.

He denied allegations of financial misappropriation and non payment of salaries to staff, discribing such allegations as fabricated lies from detractors meant to cause division among the team, as well as to derail the assignment, and assured that if genuine issues were among the ones raised, managenent would take immediate steps to resolve them.

Mr Iorfa commended Governor Samuel Ortom, and his wife Dr Eunice, for their unquantifiable moral and financial support to the club, and his decision to appoint him at the crucial stage to come and rescue the team, expressing optimism that the governor did not regret the decision.

The former Super Eagles player equally expressed appreciation to the deputy Governor of Benue State engineer Benson Abounu, also the Chairman of the club for his support and the Benue speaker Mr Titus Uba, commissioner for Youths and Sports Mr Teryima Nguher, director of sports Mr Philip Nongo as well as Mrs Margaret Icheen, supporters, fans and stakeholders who despite the ugly situation stood with the club.

He equally expressed appreciation to both management, players and officials for their commitment, discipline and the fighting spirit that made it possible for the club to succeed in the task and called on all fans and stakeholders to continue to give Lobi Stars the support in the next year’s soccer season for the club to achieve its dream of playing in the continental tournament.
