18 Political Parties Sign Peace Pact In Kebbi

Prepatory to 2023 general elections, no fewer than 18 political parties on Saturday signed peace accord in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital of Kebbi.

The peace accord signing which was held at Shagalinku hotel in Birnin Kebbi was attended by the four major governorship candidates which are Abubakar Udu Idris of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), his counter part from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), General Aminu Muhammed Bande, Labour Party (LP), Mr Gambo Tarsel; and Accord Party, National Rescue Movements(NRM) as well as the ruling ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) who was represented by the state secretary Shehu Umar Jega as the guber candidate Dr Nasir Idris was away in Shanga local government for campaigns.

Signing of the peace accord was done in the presence of Kebbi police commissioner CP Ahmed Magaji Kontagora who pledged to provide security to the candidates during campaigns. He also warned against breaching the peace accord as it will be met with severe consequences.

Earlier in his speech, the Kebbi state resident electoral commissioner, Ahmed Mahmud Bello read out 12 rules and laws governing peace accord which he promised to give each of them a copy to sign.

However, out of the 18 political parties at the peace accord occasion only 11 took part in the peace deal.
