18 Cummuters Die In Kebbi Fatal Accident

No fewer than 18 commuters from Illela town in Sokoto state commuting to Lagos have died in a fatal motor accident in Kebbi state.

Kebbi state police command reported that at least 42 persons sustained various degrees of injuries in the accident which happened on January the 15th ,2023 at Malisa junction in Gwandu local government area of the state.

According to Kebbi state police image maker, SP Nafiu Abubakar, the truck which was conveying human and cows heading to Lagos with registration number SRP 442 XA lost control killing 18 people and injuring 42 who are currently receiving treatment at the hospital.

Kebbi State police commissioner, Ahmed Magaji, on receipt of the news immediately mobilised to the accident scene where he ordered the evacuations of the bodies to the hospital. 18 persons were confirmed dead by a medical doctor. While condoling the parents of the bereaved he said the injured are responding to treatment.

However, at least 16 cows also died in the fatal accident. The police commissioner admonished members of the National Union of Roads Transport Workers (NURTW) and National Union of Roads Transport Owners ( NARTO) to warn their members against overspeeding, overloading and dangerous driving and to as well be very careful while driving to stem future occurance.
