Nigerians in diaspora gives Saraki, Dogara 7 days ultimatum over Buhari’s health

By Gbenga Odunsi, Abuja

Some Nigerians living in diaspora have called on Senate President Bukola Saraki, and Speaker Yakubu Dogara to direct the setting up of a medical panel to ascertain whether President Muhammadu Buhari is incapacitated, under the provisions of Section 144 sub-section 4 of the Nigerian Constitution.

These Nigerians under the aegis of Nigerians in Diaspora Evaluating Group also asked the President to address the nation by live video or face the prospects of organized protests in Nigeria and other parts of the world.

The protest will be aimed at sensitizing the public as to the legal & constitutional crisis created by President Buhari’s continued absence from office and the insistence of the cabal to shield him away from his constituents, the Nigerian people.”

The group in a statement signed by its coordinator, Ahmed Ahmed, and made available to AljazirahNigeria called on the leadership of the National Assembly to invoke sections of the Nigerian constitution to declare the president incapable of ruling the country, and consequently remove him from power.

Several national and international groups have since called on President Muhammadu Buhari to resign and pave way for the acting president Yemi Osinbajo to be confirmed as Nigeria’s substantive president, adding that is in the interest of the country, for President Buhari to tender his resignation letter without delay

Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari left for London on May 7, 2017 for an undisclosed medical treatment, leaving Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to lead the country.
